Mooring bottom chain replacement

Service Description

Recommended mooring systems use 1.5x water depth heavy bottom chain and 1.5x top chain. The heavy bottom chain spends most of its life in anaerobic mud and typically lasts longer. Old style moorings often had only a few feet of heavy chain, making replacement of top chain problematic. Installing an adequate length of bottom chain significantly improves mooring holding power and makes annual mooring inspection less difficult and less expensive. Basic service includes installation of 30' of 5/8" stud-link heavy bottom chain, appropriate for 20' deep moorings. For moorings in depths exceeding 20', chain length and price are prorated. Optional upgrade to 1-1/8" "ship chain" is available for $750. This heavier chain settles deep into anaerobic mud and typically has a lifespan measured in decades rather than years.
